Book Description:

Just as love appears, so does the darkness. With her heart reaching out for one man, Brenna finds herself the target of an unknown stalker. Who is he? What does he want? How far will he go for her? Death is an option. Brenna discovers more than she bargained for and learns that the stalker will kill for her. It all comes down to decisions, and no matter what she chooses it will demand sacrifice and someone’s blood.

Excerpt:

Brenna’s eyes fluttered open to see a blur of trees flying by.  Her head pounded and her stomach began to roll from the pain she felt and the fast-changing scenery.  A careful look at her surroundings told her she was in some older model car.  She inhaled deeply to calm herself, but confusion set in as her senses were assaulted by unfamiliar smells.  Her eyes widened in fright as terrifying memories began to flood her mind.  Turning slowly, afraid of what she might see, she gazed at the man behind the wheel of the speeding car.  She shivered when she saw he was just as repulsive as she remembered.  Who was he and what did he want with her?

Sensing her stare, a pair of dark, soulless eyes turned towards her.  A smile appeared on his unkempt face.  “Well, well, sleeping beauty awakes.”  Brenna’s stomach rolled again as she felt his eyes slide hungrily over her body.  She pushed up against the door in an effort to put as much distance between the two of them as she could, but he shook his head in disapproval.  “No need to be  dramatic.”  He turned his attention back to the road.  “We both know you won’t jump out.”

Fire & Ice Blog Tour: Cambria Hebert

Today, I’m happy to be part of the Fire & Ice Blog Tour! My guest today is the author of the Heven and Hell series, and also has a new series coming out soon! This lovely lady has a lot to say, usually because she’s hopped up on coffee! Today she’s going to be chatting about the history of Valentine’s Day. After, there’s a giveaway for one of her works, so don’t miss out! Without further ado, here is the wonderful Cambria Hebert!!

History of Valentine’s Day.

Hi everyone!

I’m so happy to be here today as part of the Fire & Ice blog hop! Since Valentine’s day is approaching I was brainstorming ideas about what kind of blog posts I could write about the holiday.

I started to wonder where V-day came from. I mean, did it originate with a tiny man in a diaper that went around shooting “arrows of love” at lonely people?

Was it merely engineered by big time marketing reps who just wanted one more thing to fill the shelves at big name stores and give people a reason to shop?

Nope.

Not according to the internet. Continue reading Fire & Ice Blog Tour: Cambria Hebert

Review: Winter Eve

Winter Eve
Winter Eve by Lia Davis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

“You’re being lead away by a cat, like Alice and that damn rabbit…”

Danica just wants to be left alone, without the pity and sorrow her folk look at her with. But when she darts in front of Nevan’s car and leads him back to her house, alone is suddenly the last thing she wants to be anymore.

As this is a precursor to the actual Ashwood Falls series, it sets up the characters well, showing the depth of Dani’s scars and how Nev’s strange upbringing can help. Though short, readers can get an idea of what will follow, setting the stage for a unique blend of were/human interactions.

Winter Eve challenges readers to see the “pack” differently, to go beyond the scars (both inside and out), and to be true to your inner animal.

New Release: Tanner

Today’s new release is a special one! I had the pleasure of working with author Mona Hanna on this book! It’s called Tanner (Prentor Book 2) and is the sequel to Myriad.  It’s a sweet tale of love, spell casting, friendship, and forgiveness. I’ve done some beta reading for Mona in the past (on the first book in this series, actually), so I was happy to work with her on this one as well! I hear there’s a third book in the works and can’t wait to see what awaits these characters!
If you’re looking for a quick read full of magic, check this one out! Though you should probably just go all in and get Myriad first to get the introduction to the characters!

Tanner_Cover_End_mediumBlurb:

Kalin is looking forward to his future with Regina, and finding out where his path lies. Then a new danger disrupts the life of him and his friends. Lisandra is a dark witch, experienced in using the worst kinds of magic. After forever damaging the lives of two in the group, she’s returned, and has a plan which could lead to the deaths of many in Prentor. The group is determined to stop Lisandra, not only to save the lives of strangers, but to help get Mark’s brother, Tanner, out of her clutches. But can Mark and Sasha ever forgive Tanner for what he’s done to them?

Review: Serenya’s Song

Serenya's Song
Serenya’s Song by Mysti Parker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I doubted heaven was within my reach until now, when two similar souls could make such beautiful music together and send my spirit soaring into the sky.

Serenya has the ability to interpret dreams and a birth defect that forces her to wear gloves. She’s endured small-town gossip and the cruelty of her husband, Sebastian, The Earl of Summerwind, but when Jayden comes to town, her world is turned upside down.

Having met Jayden in A Ranger’s Tale, readers will know some of his back story and why he is new to Summerwind. Serenya’s past (and present) is a tragic story, made worse when her tragic love is found in Jayden. What follows is a tale full of twists, inner turmoil, love, and lose befitting something out of Shakespear.

Love, adventure, a beautiful setting, strong characters–all reasons to pick up both Tallenmere books. The flowing language keeps reader’s attention, speeding this fantasy/romance towards it’s inevitable yet unpredictable conclusion.

Review: A Ranger’s Tale

A Ranger's Tale
A Ranger’s Tale by Mysti Parker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’d been through hell and back and thought I’d took up permanent residence there until I had Cali in my arms again.

Caliphany has an easy, if predictable, life as the King’s niece. As the daughter of Sirius, Leogard’s most famous wizard, she’s forced into following his footsteps and finds that it doesn’t suit her at all, and neither does her arranged marriage. She daydreams of adventure and is almost kidnapped. Fortunately, Galadin comes to her rescue, and the two of them strike a bargain–Galadin will train Cali to be a ranger.

What follows is a tale of adventure, of love, and of being true to yourself. Cali and Galadin are fleshed-out characters, each with their own flaws and ideas. The pain they feel is real. The hardships they face, separate and together, shape them in a way nothing else could.

The adventure is lively, filled with twists and turns and trials along the way. Just when readers think they know what will happen, some other choice comes along. Though in the end, love prevails.

The way everything comes together is a triumph of the author. Full of emotion, both grief and love, and adventure, A Ranger’s Tale is not to be missed for lovers of fantasy/romance. Do NOT judge this book by it’s cover–you WILL miss out.

Review: Secrets

Secrets
Secrets by Tim Mettey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

“What has he done?” “He has given us hope.”

Nicholas has been living a life full of secrets that he isn’t aware of, even though they revolve around him. Having fled his hometown with his aunt after a disaster kills thousands, Nicholas has drifted unnoticed through four other schools in four towns. Now, starting his sophomore year, he’s determined to make this year memorable, to be a part of it, even if it means his death.

While the transition from chapter one to chapter two is very confusing, as readers continue through, they find the story of a (mostly) typical teenager going to high school. The simple writing depicts Nicholas and Elle clearly, yet leaves older readers wanting more and noticing the inconsistencies that characters like Cora seem to be full of. There is a lot of build up, of potential, from the start that seems to get lost in the football games and school lunches.

Overall, Secrets was an entertaining read, fast-paced and full of mystery that keeps readers turning the page. Hopefully more will be explained/expounded upon in the second book, making Nicholas’ ‘secret’ come to life.
