Blog Tour: Hope

Hi all! Today I have the pleasure of sharing one of the Forbes Mates books by Grace R. Duncan. Hope is the fifth story in the Forbes Mates series, which takes place in the good ol’ town of Pittsburgh and the surrounding area.

I’ve worked with Grace on many (all?) of her titles, and her writing continues to get stronger and more vivid. And yes, I did know her favorite author. 🙂

Cover art by Jess Small

First, of course, is thanks to Tricia for giving me space today. I really appreciate it!

Which of your books is your favorite?

Eek! This is a hard one. There are so many different genres I write in that it’s hard to pick one. For the BDSM, I think Beautiful boy. That was one that just grabbed me and before I knew it, half of it was written. For the paranormal, I’m really torn between Patience and Acceptance. I love the humor I was able to write into Patience, but Quincy is probably my favorite of all my characters and I really want to write more with him.

Guest Post: Leto of the Ionian Sea

Today I’m hosting Maria Siopis, author of Leto of the Ionian Sea, part of the Resist and Triumph anthology.  All profits from this anthology, put together by Grace R. Duncan, go to The Trevor Project and GLAAD. Keep reading for an excerpt and giveaway below!

~~~
Tricia, I’m truly grateful for hosting me on your blog,
First of all, I want to thank Grace R. Duncan for taking an action toward what she felt was unjust and unfair, and all the writers who donated their stories and talent for a worthy cause. Each story has a voice, and each author skillfully produced fascinating characters to remind us that humanity could be saved if we only let words guide our way.
Similarly, I let the amorphous words in my head lead the way thus creating, Leto of the Ionian Sea, which is a story of resistance and triumph and draws a lot from my background. However, that was not my initial intention when I began typing the first letters on the screen, but soon my mind, heart and Homer took over. His legendary writings of Iliad and Odyssey filled me expending my desire to create something entirely different of what he offered to humanity. Besides where could we uncover democracy other than ancient Greece?
I hope that my miniscule contribution will make a difference in a world that is full of the modern plagues of hate, prejudice and governmental uncertainties. I hope our collective effort is successful. Below is an excerpt of my story where I introduce the idea of equality:
The sun was brighter today than any other day. Leto squinted her eyes and let the warmth engulf her face and body. She stayed in front of the gates as if she was afraid to progress forward. She was terrified of what the gods would reveal. She looked back at the palace and then moved forward. Melpo was behind her holding the basket with the gods’ offerings: Honey, and oils to burn for them. Leto wished to please them first before she evoked from them to reveal her fate. The pathway to the temple was narrow and wrapped around the mountain that was infertile of any vegetation. The soil was dry already, and the rain was evaporated returning to the gods. Dust cloaked Leto’s feet, and her sandals collected specks of dirt, but she continued walking. She could see the temple emerging gloriously at the peak of the mountain. The sculptures of deer were in full view, and the three steps at the entrance were decorated with leafs of daphne. She sat on the steps wiping off the sweat from her forehead and stared at the golden sea.
“My lady we have to go in before the sun reaches its zenith. It will be disrespectful to do it afterwards.”
Leto knew that Melpo was right. The offering had to be done before the sun was on top of the temple. How did she know her land’s customs? She was new and came from another state. Did her people make their offering to the gods the same way?
“You look perplexed my lady. We do our offerings to the gods the same way. Yet, my land is better…” Melpo said but stopped realizing that what she uttered was offending. “I’m sorry for being so blunt. I miss my land.”
“How did you get captured?”
“Our ship capsized. Poseidon was angry with us for an unknown reason. I was the only one not to cross Tartarus and I was saved by your people. The gods have plans for me.”
“Are you from the upper class?”
“There is no upper class in my state. Everyone is equal.”
Leto thought about this new idea that never crossed her mind before and made her reconsider what was known to her. She always felt that her land’s law was unjust, but no class would create turmoil and unrest. She wanted to ask this new servant how it was possible to maintain order, but the sun was progressing. She got up and offered her hand to the slave as if they were equal.
Blurb of the anthology:
As 2017 opened, the United States took several steps back in the progress toward equality. In response, a group of authors has stepped up to offer positive stories of hope and love. In an effort to help fight and support those groups who are facing even greater challenges, we wrote these stories to offer a small amount of aid.
Stories of hope, resistance, and ultimately triumph fill the pages of this anthology.
All proceeds of the anthology go to The Trevor Project and GLAAD to help fight the effects of the dark times we’re facing.
Rafflecopter: We are offering a free paperback copy of Resist and Triumph so we encourage everyone to enter our giveaway. It truly is a remarkable anthology.
Guest Post: Three Hearts
Hello and welcome! Today I have the lovely Grace R. Duncan on my page to promote her newest release Three Hearts. She’s going to talk about finding a cover for her book that fit both the story and the genre. Hope you enjoy!
~~~

Thanks so much to Tricia for letting me post here today!

When I wrote Three Hearts, I hadn’t given a lot of thought to the challenges publishing it would entail. In fact, I hadn’t given any thought to publishing it originally. I’d never thought I’d even write an mpreg, much less publish one, so when the story came out of me, I wasn’t thinking about the interesting issues that would emerge when faced with publishing it.

I want nothing but to escape the bitterness and emptiness surrounding me….

I’m, Olivia Rey, a product of an unwanted pregnancy and since that day forward my world has not beeneasy. My mother’s anger at not being able to hold on to my ‘father’ made her lash out all her hatred and venom at me growing up. So, I did the only thing I could to survive, I enclo…sed my heart until I can be in the light.

All I want is to be surrounded in darkness to not feel…

I’m, Phoenix Ryan, I have lived a life of privilege with no boundaries making me feel invincible. Then when I was on a high, tragedy came crashing down on me and cast me into a world where I was left numb. So I did the only thing I could to survive I enclosed my heart, so I could walk into the darkness.

Will theses two guarded hearts eclipse into each other to find love, or will they be forever guarded.

“Two men were infinitely better than one, an intoxicating combination if I could find it, and my greedy self-indulgence was boundless, my sexuality unleashed those many years ago with him. His shadow haunted me and shaped my obsession, the depth of my depravity deep and forged in the cafes and nightclubs and back alleys in a dozen countries with dozens of men.

Once I’d started down that road, I couldn’t stop and couldn’t go back, a dark and insatiable impulse propelling me forward and driving me into the arms of strangers like the Mohammeds and into the sweltering barren desert.” 〰 Haley 〰

Unable to cope with the loss of her first love, a charming and seductive Spanish soccer player, beautiful, headstrong Haley Hanson abandons love entirely. She seeks solace in the arms of strangers and fame, a tumbleweed rolling where the gusts of wind carry her, and she lands between a garbage bin of rotting food and a brick wall. Stuck in limbo and near death.

Will love destroy her or conquer all?

Excerpt 2

We headed south and stopped at a carpet store to pick up a small, funky off-road bus. The side of it was painted with a mural of camels, sand and a big yellow sun, and it was well-equipped with multiple spare tires, a satellite phone for communications and a CD player. Momed turned on the music, pumped up the volume, and we sang to ‘80s rock ‘n’ roll, which blared from speakers attached to the roof’s interior. I was ecstatic, pleased we were no longer driver, tour guide and client but new friends enjoying our youth and freedom, and soon, we’d be enjoying each other.

tumbleweed teaser1Two hours later, Hammed pulled off the highway and headed into the Western Desert. It was a bumpy ride and I hung on tight, bouncing wildly on the seat, and an hour later, Hammed stopped in the middle of nowhere.

There was sand and barren rocky hills as far as my eyes could see, and it was perfect for what I’d planned, finally alone with the Mohammeds and not a soul in sight to watch our every move.

It was uncharacteristically hot for January, sweat immediately pooling on my forehead and dripping down my spine, and I stripped off my white cotton shirt and jeans, leaving me wearing only a black lacy bra, bikini panties and sandals.

Momed and Hammed stopped setting up the canopy to gape at me, the surprised look on their faces what I’d expected, and I smiled to myself, nonchalantly shrugged my shoulders and said, “It’s freaking hot, guys. Feel free to do the same.”

They didn’t follow my suggestion right away, but after setting up the canopy, spreading the blankets under it and lugging the coolers into the shade, perspiration seeped through their polo shirts and they looked miserable.

It didn’t matter to me. I was certain they’d eventually end up naked in my arms, and then that knowing look passed between them again, and they quickly peeled off their clothes and stood before me wearing only white jockey underwear, and they were magnificent, beautiful…

Their hard bodies–one pale and one golden–glistened with sweat, and their cocks bulged beneath the jockeys, making my stomach clench and pulse race, and it took all my willpower to stop myself from immediately pouncing on them. It was almost too much, my pussy plump and throbbing and hot juices accumulating between my legs, but I acted like I didn’t notice. Instead, I sank to my knees and began organizing lunch, clad in the skimpy undergarments as I laid out plastic food containers, and I could sense their eyes following my every move, their lust electrifying the stark landscape and me.

tumbleweed teaser3There’s nothing to compare it to, that feeling of sexual power over men, except maybe taking that perfect shot, and I had a strong urge to snap their picture, their silhouettes shadowed under the canopy yet fully formed close up. And they were close, their musky scents teasing my nostrils and manhood tantalizing my libido, and a rush of sweet satisfaction surged through me.

I forced myself to calm and sat cross-legged on the blanket, intentionally opening up my sex to them while also opening a beer, and I dramatically took a big swig. It was ice cold and I rubbed the cold can on the nape of my neck, my body on fire, heated from the desert and hot anticipation.

“Do you want one?” I asked. “There’s water and soda, too.”

I wasn’t surprised when they both grabbed a beer from the cooler. There were no prying eyes to see them and no one to admonish them, and they sucked it down as if it was water.

I didn’t say anything, their religion their own business, and I passed around the food–flatbread, salads and vegetables marinated in olive oil and little pies filled with meat and cheese, and for dessert, a semi-sweet pastry filled with nuts.

The meal was delicious, made more so by the crisp desert silence and half-naked Mohammeds, their stiff cocks hidden by the jockeys a constant reminder of what was to come, and I crawled on all fours, giving them a good look at my ass as I cleaned up and placed the leftovers back into the cooler, and then I scooted between them and rested on my knees, glancing from one to the other.

Excerpt:

(Featuring a first look at the mysterious male lead: Kaius)

~*~

Kaius

Usually, when the town drifted under the heavy spell of sleep, I used the time for quiet reflection, or spent it with the others.

Tonight felt different, poignant—if I had to choose a precise word to describe the tightness in my stomach and the way my skin tingled.

With my eyes shut, I willed my mind to show me something, anything that might be the reason. It happened rarely, but I was sometimes able to pick things up.

This was one of those occasions.

Each of my visions occurred in the same manner—the room or location I inhabited dissolved away piece by piece, much like the pixels on a computer screen. Then, the same process repeated, bringing the new setting into focus. Only when the very last piece was in place would the vision reveal itself to me:

A flash of metal . . .

A pair of feminine hands swinging a blade—small, though still every bit as deadly—with some difficulty . . .

Hands I’d seen in my visions many, many times before.

But, rather than focusing on the girl, I gave the entire scene my attention. A severe lack of structures, combined with the girl’s attire, gave me cause to assume this vision didn’t take place anywhere near the present time.

I guided my mind’s eye across the wide expanse of field packed with warriors and knights who didn’t belong in the same timeline, let alone the same region. I didn’t understand.

Ancient Scottish Picts, smeared with the ashes of their dead and the enemy’s blood, sparred with true Viking warriors, men of impressive stature and terrifying expressions.

Then, as suddenly as the images had arrived, they vanished, leaving me shrouded in a severe case of heartache. My ribs tightened, snakelike, as a strange sensation burned through me and my breath came in short gasps.

Unable to keep my current form, I allowed the release of energy, shedding my body and drifting out into Earth’s atmosphere. Only then did I truly understand what the strange new feeling was, and more importantly, what it meant.

She’s finally here.

For as long as she can recall, Ellie Carstens has been a huge fan of reading. The genre and content are not important as long as the story holds her captive. She believes that life is too short to be taken seriously all the time and to lose one’s self in a good book is an escape worth taking. Now, she writes science fiction, fantasy, romance, and beyond, creating stories that will hopefully bring that same passion for reading to others.

Flux is her debut title and the first in a Young Adult sci-fi/romance trilogy.

She works at a bookstore and hangs out with her best friend Becca King on a daily basis. But underneath the normal lies a secret life filled with dangerous supernaturals. Zahara belongs to a world made of Light Witches, rogue Imagoes (supernatural creatures with super strength, speed, and silver skin when the moon is out), fallen angels, and Nephilim (hybrid children born half-human, half-angel). Where her father Solomon Faraday is human, her mother Mia and her Aunt Catalina are Light Witches. They help protect the human world by hunting down rogue supernaturals who commit heinous acts against humans. What they never expected was the possibility of having to hunt down the one rogue coven they had befriended and come to trust in their battle against Lucifer. Rekesh Saint-Louis is the leader of the most powerful Imago coven in Florida and now he’s the most suspected. Supernatural bodies are starting to pile up with an ancient ritual long forbade being used to murder them and the symbol, one large cross with four smaller crosses around it—which represents Rekesh’s coven— being left behind. Rekesh and the Elders of his coven set out to find who is behind the murders and clearing his name before a war between the covens begins. To make matters more difficult, Rekesh also has to deal with the return of someone he has been keeping a secret.

Meanwhile, Zahara and Becca are spending more time brushing up on their training, knowing an attack from Lucifer can come at any moment. Between patrolling neighborhoods and hanging at the boarding school created by Charles Stephens—a fallen angel who created the school to protect the children of rogue supernaturals—they are thrown into one battle after another. Zahara begins to develop a closer bond with Jason as they train and chase down clues to clear Rekesh’s name. What she doesn’t know is the very powerful secret Jason is keeping; a secret that will change the course of the fight with Lucifer.

But Rekesh’s coven being set up isn’t the only danger. A new powerful and lethal drug has emerged from the shadows of the supernatural world called Inferi. The drug has two deadly side effects: it leaves the supernatural hungering for blood—both human and supernatural—and grants them the elemental power they had once possessed.

Lucifer is on the move and he will stop at nothing to get his hands on Zahara and complete the first act of his plan.

A battle is about to begin.

One that may cost the Faraday family everything they hold dear.

twelfthsuncover  Synopsis –

The hunky young PhD knows all about seduction, but what does he know about love?

Reagan Cassidy is settled in her life. She has a thriving interior design firm, an upscale condo, two cats, and a goldfish. As a favor to her uncle, she agrees to team up with his marine archeologist friend to validate and retrieve a nineteenth-century journal, reputedly that of a passenger aboard the doomed schooner Twelfth Sun. Finding a hunky twenty-five-year-old coming out of the shower in her hotel room wasn’t part of the deal, but it’s hard to complain…

Dr. Elijah Cross is cocky and he knows it. He enjoys trading barbs with the lovely Reagan. Barbs, and some innuendo. He can tell she’d rather get back home to her business than stick around for the extended treasure hunt they’ve been talked into, but he’s fine with the situation. At least, until the “clues” start getting personal.

Reagan finds Dr. Gorgeous is as skilled in matters of the heart as he is behind the lectern. Throw in a series of clues which mean more to Elijah than he’ll explain, several odd-ball competitors out to win the journal, a saboteur, and a lavish seaside mansion, and Reagan has enough trouble keeping her head straight, let alone her heart.
