New Release: Christmas Lites VI

Christmas Lites

For the sixth year, I’ve participated in a great anthology, with a greater cause. Christmas Lites donates all proceeds to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Inside this year’s book, you’ll find not only a story by me, but also my daughter. The story themes vary, so there’s most likely something for everyone inside.

CoverBlurb:

Cthulhu wants to wish you a Merry Christmas. The Fae sprinkle their fairy dust to ensure your light never fades. Assassins and adventures alike keep the spirit of life alive. Even the mob brings their family to the dinner table for glorious feasts.

Feel  the magic of the season, the spirit of giving, the love of friends and family.

Discover bright new worlds, blood-pumping adventures,  true love and heartbreak as you explore the stories inside these covers.

For the sixth year in a row, authors from all over the world combined their efforts and talents to create the anthology in your hands. Not for fame or fortune, but to help those in need. Every dime raised from this anthology goes straight to those who provide the assistance to these people. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence has been helping in ways we can never imagine for years, and we are happy to help support their efforts.

Rebecca and Daniel have never met. A fifteen-year-old preacher’s kid and a sixteen-year-old atheist outcast, they appear to have little in common. And yet they have both attracted the attention of a recruiter for Angel Island, where bad kids go to be remade—or destroyed.

Agents of the all-powerful New America Unity Church will stop at nothing to get them. They’re building an army, a modern children’s crusade, in which Rebecca and Daniel may be just the kind of future leaders they need.

RIP Hugh Rawson

Found out I lost a great friend and author last night. Hugh Rawson had been fighting for a long time, but now is hopefully at peace.

Hugh worked in movies in his younger years, working his way up to an assistant producer to films such as Crocodile Dundee and Maria’s Lovers. There he met many people and touched their lives, and had wonderful stories to tell about his time on (and off) set. He worked with names such as Jon Kilik (Hunger Games), who he kept in touch with even after he traded big-time sets for small-town life.

He continued to engage the minds of others with his sci-fi book, Secrets of a Universe: The Mindkey Project. The first planned of seven, it is the only one released. I had the pleasure to work with him on it. He had an incredible imagination that will live on in his writing.

Rest well, my friend, and I’ll see you in the astral world.

Review: Gardens of Ampheia

Gardens of Ampheia
Gardens of Ampheia by Joshua Silverman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Purple like the color of the fire?

Thea has trained for war her entire life. Living as a farmer, she has a lonely existence until a horrible accident changes her life — and life on Potara — forever.

Though short, this novella packs a lot of history and action. There is much more to Thea than meets the eye, and she discovers things about herself and pieces of her past, leading to life as it’s known in The Emerald Tablet.

Thea is a strong character who does the best she can without true guidance. She is ruled by fear and uncertainty, perhaps rightly so. As the story unfolds, it hints at who she will be and what greatness she’ll accomplish.

Gardens of Ampheia is a great addition to the Legends of Amun Ra world.
