Blog Tour: Bewitched

Welcome one and all to my stop on the Bewitched Tour! This is perfect for the season, and author Cambria Hebert gave me a special post for you on one of her FAVORITE subjects — chickens!! Now, for those of you that know Cambria, you know that there was a lot of sarcasm in that statement. So, without further ado, I give to you…

Bewitched
Bewitched by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This all started because I had felt betrayed and alone. Yet, here I was, more alone and betrayed than ever.

Kimber is a simple girl who just wants everything. Cast in Heven’s shadow, she struggles to find a way to get what she wants – people to like her the most. It’s not that she doesn’t like Heven, but she knew she was meant for greater things, and seeing Heven get everything she’s always wanted… well, that just rubbed Kimber the wrong way. So, Kimber did what anyone in her position would – took matters inter her own hands.

Followers of the series will know that Kimber has been around since Before. As Heven’s best friend, she’s very much a part of Heven’s life. Until the day she isn’t. Hurt, Kimber makes a deal she doesn’t understand with a person she doesn’t know.

The characters are what really drives the story. Kimber’s larger than life personality takes over the pages and grabs the reader in. While readers of the other books may know the ultimate outcome of her actions, seeing Kimber’s side of it gives a whole new appreciation/understanding of what she’s going through.

Short, dark, and full of emotion, Bewitched fills the gaps with “Kimber logic” and sets the stage for more drama to come.

ALSO! I have a wonderful guest post about where the idea for this story came from and what tales were its influence. Keep reading for this sneak-peak into the mind and world of Hannah Kollef… I mean, Kat Finnegan. 🙂

Blurb:

When 17-year-old Kat Finnegan is warned in a Brooklyn alleyway that her father is going to disappear, she shrugs and walks away. The next morning her father is gone–leaving behind a booby-trapped apartment and a mystery that has slept for a thousand years.

To get him back, Kat and her twin brother Roger will have to unravel the secrets behind the Rose Queen–the fairy queen who ripped apart reality and stitched it back together, transforming the Fey into the memories known as fairy tales. They will also have to come to grips with their emerging powers and discover why they are known to the magical world as “The Truth” and “The Lie.”

Hunted by demons and treacherous Fey, Kat and Roger follow the Queen’s trail from Manhattan to Newark. But neither the Queen nor her curse is what they expected, and more is at stake than their father’s life–and theirs.

However, evil is like water; it seeps into all the cracks until it’s overflowing from within.

Hugo and Bree lead a simple yet happy life, until Hugo’s father died. Since then, Hugo can’t stay focused and began wasting away, not hungry for anything his wife cooked anymore. Bree is desperate to save her love, willing to do whatever it takes to restore him to himself. But love isn’t enough to satisfy what he’s become.

This story is mixed with Indian lore, citing the “old ways” as how his father and family lived, those ways that he broke away. The lore brings an air of realism to the tale, lending strength to the characters who are already alive on their own. In this character-driven piece, the simple language and narrative interludes flesh out the short tale into something gripping.

Love is complicated. Some people will do anything to maintain it. Consumed by Love takes that sacrifice to a new level, mixing the “erotic connection between food and lust” in this well-crafted piece.
