Blog Tour: Serenya’s Song

An Evening with the Cast of Serenya’s Song #4: Lillyanne

Setting: The Wasted Witch

That’s my seat, stranger. Never mind. Ye’ve got the old red-eye already. The name’s Lillyanne Sawyer. My friends call me Lilly. What, ye’ve never seen a halfling before? Better go easy on Barnaby’s Ale. It’s smooth as a royal consort the first mug or two, but it’ll yank the ground from under yer feet if ye drink a drop too much.

Who am I kiddin’? I’ve been preachin’ at that wood-elf over there, Jayden, or Jay as I call ‘im, for ten years, and I might as well be talkin’ to this bar stool. We work together, or did, back in Leogard.

And now look at ‘im. Drownin’ his sorrows in ale. I told him he should’ve never married Lady Caliphany. I could tell she was a man-eater from the first day I laid eyes on ‘er. I’ll give ‘im credit for walkin’ away when he did. Least he didn’t buy into ‘er martyr routine. She was willin’ to stay with ‘im, but she’d have never loved ‘im like she did that half-elf rogue of ‘ers.

I finally talked Jay into movin’ here to Summerwind. It’s where I grew up with the rest of my people, the Haddo. Perfect town to settle in. I decided to come back for good after Jay stepped down. It was time to leave all the hobnobbin’ and favor-mongerin’ in Leogard far behind me.

No, I’m not followin’ Jay, and I’ll see how well yer head fits into that mug if ye say that again. I came back ‘ere to get married. Sammy Callwill’s an honest businessman and picks up after ‘imself. Besides, a girl can’t live on childish dreams. The thing about dreams is… sometimes ye gotta let ‘em go.

Wouldn’t ya know it? Jay’s givin’ a rose to Lady Serenya Crowe, none other than my best friend. Happy or not, she’s married to the Earl, and Jay dunna have a clue what he’s gettin’ ‘imself into. Sure, she plays a fine tune on that piano and her voice can rival any angel’s, but he doesn’t know ‘er like I do.

I didn’t mean it in a bad way. She’s just Renny to all of us who love ‘er. I’ve known the Barnabys all my life. Poor Renny—the children tormented ‘er to no end.

Why? Because she’s different, not that’s it’s any of yer business to know the details. Let’s just say I put ‘em all in their place back then. But now, Renny’s married and a grown woman, and I canna fix everythin’, especially when she won’t even talk to me about it.

Tyr’s blood, the Earl looks as hot as the business end of a poker. This canna end well.

I think I’ll be walkin’ Renny home. Ye better go sleep off that ale.

Serenya’s Song: Tallenmere Book Two by Mysti Parker

Blurb:

In the fantasy world of Tallenmere, no one ever said love was easy…

Serenya Crowe may be a half-elf commoner, but she’s no ordinary woman. With the ability to interpret dreams, and a birth defect that forces her to wear gloves, she’s endured small-town gossip and the cruelty of her husband, Sebastian, The Earl of Summerwind. All she’s ever wanted is to live a quiet life and raise a family. When she meets the new stranger in town, her world and her heart, are turned upside down.

Wood-elf Jayden Ravenwing is an ex-secret agent who wants nothing more than to forget matters of the heart. He left the bustle of Leogard and his failed marriage to make a fresh start in Summerwind. He never planned to fall in love again, especially with the enchanting Serenya Crowe.

When a strange portal opens on the Crowe property at the edge of town, Jayden is thrown into an investigation, knowing that if he fails, Serenya and everyone in Summerwind may die.

Together, he and Serenya must overcome an ancient evil, and their own inner demons, to save Summerwind and find the love they’ve always dreamed of.

    1. She’s a bit like an elephant, Stef, not in stature of course, but in that she NEVER forgets 🙂 I really love Lilly too. Her voice comes so easily to me. I can see her popping up in future books.

  1. Hey Mysti,

Another great post and a great introduction to another character. Lilly seems to be quite a spitfire. She watches over her friends and woe be to him that crosses them or her. I believe her when she said she put them all in their place. I love this character and I love how this tour is going. See you at the next stop!
