Guest Post: Grace R. Duncan

Welcome to #FeatureFriday! Today I have an author I’ve worked with for several years now, and on several very varied stories! It’s a special post, too, since it’s an anniversary! Happy 3rd year anniversary, Grace!

So, three years ago today something extraordinary happened in my life. I became a published author. It was probably one of the most exciting moments of my life, behind the birth of my children and the wedding to my amazing husband.

I made the most amazing friend while in the process of editing Choices. Trish probably coddled me a lot more than she should have, but she is an incredible editor. We don’t always see eye to eye on editing issues, but she’s infinitely patient with me and wonderful at being willing to work with me on things.

When I first published Choices, I was scared to death it would be my only book and that I’d end up being the fiction version of a one-hit wonder. (You can ask Chad in Patience about the musical versions. The 80s were filled with them!) I’d read in more than a few places that a lot of people will get that first story published, but not a second. Well, after the lovely experience with Trish, and with her—and my beta Sara’s and my hub Joe’s—encouragement, I dove into book two of the Golden Collar series.

And never looked back. I now have a book in French and one in audio. The number of publications to my credit are in the double digits. I hoped I’d get her. I’d hoped someday I could see a list of stories that long to my name, but I really didn’t expect it.

I owe a lot of that to my husband, who not only supports me, he listens when I need to talk out a story. He beta (and sometimes even alpha) reads for me. He brings me coffee and food when I forget to eat. He is, in short, truly amazing.

My other betas—Sara and Tempe—do a huge amount to keep me going and encourage me. I’d really be up a creek quite often without them. They have listened to me cry, rage, and everything in between at my characters, when a story won’t budge, you name it.

And last, but certainly not least, I owe Trish and Dreamspinner. They took a chance on a book, took something very rough, and made it shine. Trish did a phenomenal job of getting Choices into shape and in the process taught me more than I could ever quantify.

I am very grateful to all of these wonderful folks. I can never truly repay them for all they’ve done for me, but I know they’d all appreciate it if I pay it forward, at least in a small way. To that end, I am going to celebrate the anniversary with a giveaway!

noh8Author Bio:

Grace Duncan grew up with a wild imagination. She told stories from an early age – many of which got her into trouble. Eventually, she learned to channel that imagination into less troublesome areas, including fanfiction, which is what has led her to writing male/male erotica.

A gypsy in her own right, Grace has lived all over the United States. She has currently set up camp in East Texas with her husband and children – both the human and furry kind.

As one of those rare creatures who loves research, Grace can get lost for hours on the internet, reading up on any number of strange and different topics. She can also be found writing fanfiction, reading fantasy, crime, suspense, romance and other erotica or even dabbling in art.
